This high fidelity prototype for CNN.com visualizes the user experience of news in unique ways. The concept was built on the idea of giving the people back control of their choice and voice. The result is higher engagement and conscious consumption.
The UI is based on a dashboard set, in which panels can be collapsed and expanded. Visibility of specific content can be curated, to hide or show preferences. As individuals, there are things we consciously want to see and some which we do not. Each panel serves as headline category feed, which can be easily created, modified and maintained.
When someone is consuming content, the option to make comments or react is always present. This design approach changes the dynamic from passive news to a conversation. The LIVE broadcast aspect of CNN is also integrated with the site, allowing real-time video streams. Users can interact with the content and other users simultaneously, creating an open forum of discussion.
